Over the last three years, we have worked closely, in the area of leadership, with a total of 37 organisations in 23 countries in Anglophone and Francophone Africa, both in the private and public sectors.

From our findings, we established that when the generally accepted business values of performance, results orientation and transparent reward meet the intrinsic ethics of our rich African cultural heritage of respect, wisdom, hard work and compassion, it produces a unique breed of decision makers that maintain the right balance between business deliveries and a sincere consideration for their people.

From our extended discussions and interviews, it came out clearly that this exceptional balance manifests itself in the form of 6 key competencies. It is the possession and the practice of these competencies that distinguishes leaders from merely good managers.
These competencies are: Vision, Courage and Character, Integrity, Technical Capability, Team Spirit and Communication.

The Program comprises 3 tools: “The G&A 360° feedback evaluation”, “The Informed Leader” workshop and the “Step by step individual development plan”.

  1. The G&A 360° Feedback evaluation

    The assessment is conducted around the 6 Leadership competencies described above: Vision, Courage and Character, Integrity, Technical Capacity, Team Spirit and Communication. Each participant is evaluated on line, by 10 people. All evaluations are confidential and are conducted on line, by self, by the supervisor, by direct reports, by peers, by other colleagues and external partners. The evaluations provide an objective assessment of each participant as their leadership areas of strength and weaknesses are clearly identified from the reports automatically generated by a strong IT tool and supported by our robust back office system. Each report gives a clear picture of how the participant is perceived on each of the 6 Leadership competencies.

    Moreover, a Leadership landscape of the organisation is generated from which priority areas of attention are determined: areas of strength will be fortified whilst identified gaps or “dents” will be filled. The Leadership landscape provides an aerial view of the leadership competencies of your organisation at that given time.

  2. “The Informed Leader” workshop

    The “Informed Leader” workshop is designed to ensure that the 360°feedback is appropriately given and relevantly communicated to everyone who has been assessed. It also provides recipients with a roadmap for better Leadership and greater positive influence towards results achievement. The workshop is conducted in two days. The assessment serves the positive purpose of forming the basis on which participants will design their personal developmental targets. These targets which will form part of their Key Results Areas will fortify existing critical competencies and address areas of deficiencies in order to positively impact everyone’s deliveries in time and in quality.

  3. The Step by step Individual development plan

    The step by step individual development plan is the outcome of the “Informed Leader” workshop. To ensure effective implementation and delivery of the individual development plan, each participant will identify a coach who will help to fortify their acknowledged strengths and to fill their identified gaps. This is done in a manner that will ensure that gradual S.M.A.R.T action steps are taken to impact your Organisation key deliverables.
